Headaches / Migraines
You’re sitting at your desk, working on a difficult task, when it suddenly feels like a band is squeezing the top of your head.
These periodic headaches can occur with nausea and increased sensitivity to light or sound. Sometimes these headaches come on when
you are involved in a routine, non-stressful task.
Headaches and migraines are the most common neurological ailments that affect the US population each year. They are also the major
cause of missed work, missed school, and the main reason for doctor visits. Headaches can vary in severity and can occur frequently or
occasionally. Headaches occur either on their own or they can be part of another disease or health condition. Symptoms associated with
headaches can vary from shooting pains and throbbing temples to nausea and light sensitivity.
Things like stress, emotional conflict, and more obvious things like head trauma or injury can cause what are called secondary headaches.
This means that the headache is a result of something that has caused pain-sensitive nerve endings to be pushed or pulled out of place.
Another common cause for secondary headaches is FHP, or forward head posture. This wreaks havoc on the nerve endings and can be alleviated by
chiropractic care. The secondary headache can also occur because of a deeper underlying condition, like high blood pressure, tumors, fever, or nerve disorders.
